IMD Issues High Alert for Next 24 Hours in Kolhapur, Pune, Raigad, Sangli, Satara, and Thane Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Pune | June 14, 2025 — After a brief lull, monsoon showers have returned with intensity across several parts of Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert for the next 24 hours for six districts, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
According to the latest IMD forecast, Kolhapur, Pune, Raigad, Sangli, Satara, and Thane districts are likely to witness isolated spells of intense rainfall. Authorities have advised residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
This year, the monsoon arrived in Maharashtra 12 days ahead of schedule, marking its entry on May 25 instead of the usual June 7. Following its early onset, the state experienced several days of continuous heavy rainfall, leading to disruptions in pre-sowing agricultural preparations. However, rainfall briefly subsided, allowing farmers to resume fieldwork.
The recent resurgence of rain over the past two days has brought much-needed relief to farmers, especially those waiting to begin sowing operations. Agricultural activities are now expected to pick up pace across many regions.
In Mumbai, the day began under overcast skies, with heavy rain lashing parts of the city and suburbs by evening. The showers brought a noticeable drop in temperature, providing relief from the sweltering heat.
Sangli district has also been receiving steady rainfall for the past two days. Rivers and streams in the region have started swelling, signaling the arrival of a robust monsoon phase. The rainfall has rekindled hope for a fruitful sowing season among the farming community.
As the state braces for more rainfall, IMD continues to monitor weather patterns closely and urges the public to remain cautious, especially in vulnerable and flood-prone areas.
