Pune, 18 June 2025:4S Puneri Bappa defeated two-time defending Ratnagiri Jets by five wickets (DLS Method) to punch their ticket into the playoffs of Adani Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) at the MCA International Stadium on Tuesday.

Pune won the toss and restricted Ratnagiri Jets to 154 for 9. After the rain delayed the restart, Pune were set the revised target of 132 in 16 overs, which they achieved with five wickets and a ball to spare.

The result took Pune to 11 points from 9 games and ensured their place in the MPL playoffs. Ratnagiri are on six points from 9 games and must win their next match, and must hope that the other results go their way to scrape into the playoffs.

Opener Yash Nahar (59, 43b, 3x4s, 4x6s) anchored 4S Puneri Bappa’s chase with a brilliant half-century and was well-aided by skipper Yash Kshirsagar (31, 18b, 3x4s, 1×6) as the duo added 46 runs for the third wicket to seal the game.

However, the duo were visibly disappointed when they departed without finishing the job. Kshirsagar was run out in an attempt to steal two runs in the 14th over. In the next over, Nahar handed a simple catch to short third, the ball hitting left-arm pacer Divyang Hinganekar (2 for 26 in 3 overs) for a six over midwicket.

However, the duo of Ramkrishan Ghosh and Adway Shidhaye, who had scored half-centuries each in Pune’s win over PBG Kolhapur Tuskers, ensured that there was no late drama.

Earlier, Hinganekar (43, 33b, 3x4s, 2x6s) and Kiran Chormale (37, 23b, 4x4s, 2x6s) made noteworthy contributions as Ratnagiri posted 154 for 9 in their 20 overs. Left-arm pacer Sachin Bhosale was the pick of the Pune bowlers (4 for 38) with wickets of Dhiraj Phatangare (0, 6b), Hinganekar, Sahil Churi (7, 5b, 1×4) and Vijay Pawale (0, 1b).

Brief scores: Ratnagiri Jets: 154 for 9 in 20 overs (Divyang Hinganekar 43, Kiran Chormale 37; Sachin Bhosale 4-28) lost to 4S Puneri Bappa: 132 for 5 in 15.5 (Yash Nahar 59, Yash Kshirsagar 31; Divyang Hinganekar 2-26) by five wickets (DLS Method).
