Mumbai, July 18, 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar chaired a high-level review meeting at Vidhan Bhavan on Wednesday to fast-track the ongoing works at Shirdi and Purandar airport projects.
With the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela approaching, Pawar emphasised the urgent need to complete critical infrastructure upgrades at Shirdi Airport, including the new Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, integrated cargo facility, and terminal building. He instructed officials to finalise procurement and structural designs within a week and step up construction efforts by deploying additional manpower if required.
Highlighting Shirdi Airport’s strategic location near Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, Pawar also proposed exploring land acquisition to transform it into a parking hub for smaller aircraft.
Regarding Purandar Airport, Pawar announced that the survey work has been completed and directed the Pune Collector to immediately begin land acquisition to ensure timely commencement of construction. Once operational, Purandar Airport is expected to significantly boost air connectivity for Maharashtra.
