Pune Ganeshotsav 2025: Procession Timing Dispute Resolved, Immersion To Begin At 9:30 AM
Pune, 22 August 2025: After days of discussions and differing opinions, the timing dispute over Pune’s Ganeshotsav immersion procession has been resolved. A consensus was reached at a key meeting held at the Circuit House, attended by Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, BJP MLA Hemant Rasane, and representatives of prominent Ganesh mandals, including the revered Manache Ganpati.
Following the meeting, Mohol clarified that while disagreements existed, there were no personal rifts between the mandals. “We are all part of the same family. Today’s dialogue helped us arrive at a common decision,” he said.
Under the new arrangement, the immersion procession of Manache Ganpati will start at 9:30 a.m. The number of drum troupes will be reduced, stationary performances will not be allowed, and the procession will be completed within a shorter duration to ensure smooth movement.

MLA Hemant Rasane stated that each Ganpati holds equal respect in the immersion sequence and emphasized discipline and coordination. Traditional non-electric lighting setups will be permitted between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., after which electric lighting will be allowed.
Kasba Ganpati president Shrikant Shete welcomed the decision, noting that starting the procession earlier would allow greater focus on the devotional and cultural significance of the festival rather than extending the immersion ceremony late into the night.
With Ganeshotsav now declared a state festival, officials urged all mandals to celebrate with discipline, devotion, and unity, ensuring the festivities reflect Pune’s rich cultural heritage.
