Landslide Halts Traffic on Talere –Gaganbawda National Highway; Vehicles Diverted via Phondaghat
Kolhapur, September 4, 2025: A major landslide occurred this morning on the Talere–Gaganbawda National Highway No. 166G, connecting Sindhudurg and Kolhapur.
The incident took place in the Gaganbawda ghat section, bringing down a large mass of debris onto the road.
Traffic movement has been completely stopped since 8 a.m., and vehicles are being diverted through the alternative Phondaghat route. Authorities expect the debris to be cleared by around 4 p.m. today.
Over the past few days, continuous heavy rainfall has been lashing Kolhapur’s ghat regions and Sindhudurg, leading to recurring landslides in this stretch.
The authorities are working towards cleaning of the debris. Motorists are requested to check with the local administration before travelling on this road.
