Maharashtra Weather Alert: Heavy Rains Forecast for 14 Districts on September 19, IMD Issues Yellow Alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted varied weather conditions across Maharashtra on Thursday, September 19, with several districts likely to witness heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. A yellow alert has been issued for 14 districts, urging citizens to remain cautious.
According to the forecast, Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai may receive light to moderate rainfall, while Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg could see moderate showers. Rainfall intensity is expected to be slightly reduced in the Konkan region compared to earlier spells.
In Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli, light to moderate rain is likely, with the ghat regions receiving relatively heavier showers. Solapur district is under a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by strong winds.
Meanwhile, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv are also on yellow alert, with warnings of thunder and lightning. Hingoli and Nanded may see light to moderate rainfall.
In North Maharashtra, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon are likely to get light to moderate rain. Nashik, Nashik ghat areas, and Ahmednagar are under a yellow alert due to possible thunderstorms and gusty winds.
In Vidarbha, Amravati, Bhandara, Nagpur, and Wardha are expected to receive rain with lightning and strong winds, while Akola, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Washim, and Yavatmal are likely to remain dry.
Overall, the IMD has indicated that rainfall activity will vary across regions, with Konkan, ghat areas, Marathwada, and parts of Vidarbha facing thunderstorm risks. Citizens have been advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
