Mahavatar Narsimha OTT Release: Mythological Epic Arrives on Netflix Today – When and Where to Watch
If you missed catching Mahavatar Narsimha in theatres, you can now watch the mythological blockbuster from home. The record-breaking animated epic directed by Ashwin Kumar has premiered on Netflix today, September 19, at 12:30 PM.
Netflix confirmed the release with a striking poster and the tagline, “The roar of this lion can topple a kingdom.” The film, known for its stunning visuals and powerful storytelling rooted in Indian mythology, has already earned cult status among audiences.
The Story Reimagined
Based on texts like the Vishnupurana, Narasimha Purana, and the Shrimad Bhagavata Purana, the film brings to life the story of Bhakta Prahlad and Lord Vishnu’s fierce incarnation as Narsimha. Through breathtaking animation, it revisits the battle between Narsimha and the tyrant Hiranyakashipu, highlighting devotion, faith, and divine justice.
Despite a modest theatrical opening in July, strong word of mouth turned the film into a phenomenon. It grossed over ₹249 crore in India and ₹324.5 crore worldwide, becoming one of the highest-earning Indian animated films ever.
Laying the Foundation of a Mythological Universe
Mahavatar Narsimha is the first in a planned seven-part cinematic universe inspired by the Dashavatara of Lord Vishnu. Upcoming films in the series include:
- Mahavatar Parshuram (2027)
- Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029)
- Mahavatar Dhawkadhesh (2031)
- Mahavatar Gokulananda (2033)
- Mahavatar Kalki (2035–2037)
The franchise is backed by Kleem Productions and Hombale Films and aims to revive Indian mythology through large-scale storytelling.
Director’s Vision
Ashwin Kumar has said the project is not just entertainment but also a tribute to India’s cultural and spiritual heritage. By presenting these age-old stories on a grand platform, he hopes to pass timeless values to younger generations.
