Mumbai, September 28, 2025: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh alerts as Maharashtra braces for another spell of heavy rains over the next two days. With rain activity remaining strong, 13 districts have been placed under Orange and Yellow alerts, raising concerns over possible flooding and disruption of normal life.

According to the forecast, Mumbai and its surrounding areas including Navi Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad are under an Orange Alert for September 29, with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts have been issued a Yellow Alert. Intense rain is also expected across parts of North Maharashtra, particularly in Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Ahmednagar, where Nashik’s ghat regions face an Orange Alert.

In Marathwada, the situation remains critical as several districts experienced flooding due to continuous rainfall. While most districts including Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, Hingoli, and Nanded are forecast to receive light to moderate rain, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has been placed under a Yellow Alert.

Western Maharashtra will see a slight reduction in rainfall intensity. Districts like Satara, Sangli, Solapur, and Kolhapur may receive moderate showers, though the ghat regions of Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur are under weather alerts. Pune’s ghat areas remain under an Orange Alert.

Meanwhile, Vidarbha is expected to witness scattered light to moderate rainfall without any official alerts. The IMD has cautioned that after lashing Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Western Maharashtra, the rain belt has now shifted towards Konkan, where heavy downpours could trigger rising river levels and flood-like situations.

Authorities have urged residents in affected districts to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as Maharashtra continues to face unstable monsoon conditions.
