Pune: Final Approval Granted To PMC Draft Ward Structure, Details To Be Announced On October 6
Pune, October 4, 2025: The State Election Commission has given its approval to the final ward structure for the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) general elections. This approval was granted based on the report submitted by the designated officer, as confirmed by Election Officer Prasad Katkar.
The official gazette notification of the final ward structure will be published by Monday, October 6. After public objections were heard, necessary modifications were made before submitting the revised draft to the Commission, which has now given its consent. With this approval, the election process will now move forward at a faster pace.
It is being discussed that around 14 to 15 changes have been made following objections and hearings. These include modifications in the names of 6 to 7 wards and boundary adjustments in 8 to 10 wards, particularly in suburban areas. However, the exact details will be clear only after the gazette publication, which will officially confirm the ward boundaries.
This year’s PMC elections will be conducted under the four-member ward system, with a total of 165 corporators to be elected. Objections to the draft ward structure were invited until September 4, and nearly 6,000 objections were received.
Of these, 828 citizens appeared for hearings. Concerns raised included violation of natural boundaries, arbitrary changes in ward divisions, and the potential impact on the upcoming reservation process.
