Maharashtra Weather Alert: Thunderstorms and Light Rain Expected in Western and Marathwada Regions on October 17; Dry Conditions Likely in Vidarbha
Pune, October 17, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Maharashtra, forecasting thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall across several regions on Friday, October 17. According to the IMD, districts in Konkan, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and North Maharashtra are likely to experience cloudy skies, lightning, and light showers, while Vidarbha is expected to remain mostly dry.
Weather patterns across the state continue to fluctuate, with a slight rise in temperatures and increased humidity. The IMD noted that intermittent rainfall is likely to continue in isolated areas, accompanied by cloudy conditions.
In Mumbai, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 36°C and the minimum around 26°C, with light to moderate rainfall predicted in Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts.
In Pune, temperatures are forecast at 33°C (max) and 20°C (min), with light rainfall possible across Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur. The ghat regions may also see lightning and brief spells of rain.
In Marathwada, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is expected to record 32°C (max) and 22°C (min). Districts including Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv could experience thunderstorms and light rain.
Northern Maharashtra districts such as Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, and Ahilyanagar may also see light rainfall, with Nashik’s temperature hovering around 33°C (max) and 21°C (min).
However, Vidarbha will remain dry, as per IMD’s forecast. Cities like Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur, and Yavatmal are expected to experience clear skies, with daytime temperatures around 33°C and nights near 23°C.
The IMD has advised residents to stay alert for lightning activity in Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Konkan, while noting that rising temperatures could lead to increased heat discomfort across the state.
