Ayodhya gears up for its ninth Deepotsav with 26 lakh lamps, 80,000-diya rangoli, and artistic tributes to Lord Ram across the ghats.

Ayodhya is set to dazzle the world once again as it hosts the ninth edition of the Deepotsav on October 19, turning the temple town into a glowing spectacle of devotion, culture, and art.

At the heart of this grand celebration will be Ram Ki Paidi, where a magnificent rangoli made of 80,000 diyas (earthen lamps) will form the centerpiece of the festivities.

This unique creation will be adorned with traditional symbols such as the KalashSwastika, and lotus flower, embodying the spirit of divine welcome and the artistic heritage of Uttar Pradesh.

For the first time in Deepotsav’s history, such a massive lamp-rangoli is being crafted. It draws inspiration from the traditional art of ‘Chowk Poorna’, a ritual symbolizing auspicious beginnings.

The design is being brought to life by 50 female students from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, under the guidance of the university’s Department of Art. Together, they are creating a masterpiece that, when viewed from above, will appear as if the earth itself is decorated to welcome Lord Rama’s arrival.

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that over 26 lakh lamps will illuminate 56 ghats across Ayodhya, with 28 lakh diyas already being prepared to potentially set a new world record for the largest display of earthen lamps.

Adding a creative touch, 20 Ramayana-themed “selfie points” will be installed at key locations such as Dharampath, Lata Chowk, Ram Ki Paidi, and Ramkatha Park, allowing visitors to capture moments inspired by divine tales and epic scenes.

Beyond the glowing lamps, Ramnagari will become a vibrant confluence of folk art, culture, and spirituality, showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s living traditions in full grandeur.
