Raisen-based student Divyansh Chouksey, known for his educational content page ‘NCERT Gyaan’, succumbed to injuries after the fall

A tragic incident occurred at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCU) in Bhopal, where Divyansh Chouksey, a first-semester student of Master in Mass Communication, fell from the third floor of the university building on Thursday morning.

Divyansh, originally from Raisen district, was known on Instagram for his educational handle ‘NCERT Gyaan’, which had over five lakh followers. According to preliminary reports, the mishap took place around 11:30 am when Divyansh stepped out of his class during a break and went towards the balcony. Moments later, he accidentally slipped and fell from a height of nearly three floors.

Hearing the loud noise of the fall, fellow students and staff rushed to the spot. He was immediately taken to Hajela Hospital, and later shifted to Apollo Sage Hospital due to critical injuries to his head, chest, and other body parts. Despite efforts by doctors, Divyansh succumbed to his injuries around 10 pm on Friday night.

Police from Ratangarh Police Station inspected the scene and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the accident. Initial findings suggest no signs of foul play, with investigators and fellow students confirming it appeared to be a case of accidental fall rather than suicide or homicide.

Dr. Pavitra Srivastava, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, stated that the incident was purely accidental. “The student slipped from the third-floor balcony, which has a railing of around three and a half feet,” she said.

Police have recorded statements from classmates and university staff while awaiting the post-mortem report, which will help confirm the cause of death. The university administration has informed the student’s family in Raisen, and condolences have poured in across social media, where Divyansh was widely admired for promoting educational content and guidance to students through his popular Instagram page.
