Pune: Residents Demand Strict Action Against Illegal Parking Near Tribeca High Street Mall At NIBM Annex
Pune, November 6, 2025 — Residents of High Street near Tribeca High Street Mall in NIBM Annex, Mohamadwadi, have voiced concerns over the persistent problem of illegal parking, which continues despite the presence of clearly marked “No Parking” boards.
According to locals, the unauthorised parking not only obstructs traffic flow but also causes significant inconvenience to pedestrians and poses safety hazards on one of Pune’s busiest commercial stretches. Commuters report that vehicles frequently block sidewalks and narrow the roadway, making daily travel stressful and unsafe.
In a letter addressed to the Pune Traffic Police, resident Nitin DSouza requested immediate action against violators. “Regular patrolling and strict enforcement are essential to discourage drivers from parking in prohibited areas,” he said, stressing that consistent monitoring is more effective than occasional interventions.
Residents also highlighted that delivery vehicles and two-wheelers often occupy restricted zones, exacerbating congestion during peak hours. Many believe that visible enforcement measures, including fines and towing, could serve as a strong deterrent and restore order to the area.
The community has urged both traffic authorities and the municipal administration to work together to tackle the issue. As High Street serves as a key commercial and pedestrian corridor, residents insist that smooth traffic movement and pedestrian safety must be prioritised.
Another resident commented that Kondhwa traffic division must take strict action, while PMC must take cognisance of the matter and ensure that ample parking is built to accommodate when such commercial complexes are built. The local residents should not suffer.
This growing appeal underscores the urgent need for proactive traffic management in Pune’s rapidly developing neighborhoods, where illegal parking continues to disrupt daily life despite existing regulations.
While traffic authorities told Pune Pulse that stern action will be taken against violators. The motorists should also discipline and park their vehicles in the authorised parking space. Maruti Patil, senior police inspector, Kondhwa traffic division told Pune Pulse that the action will be taken against such indisciplined motorists.
