Pune, November 17, 2025: A woman from Mumbai suffered a head injury on Sunday afternoon when a stone, dislodged due to monkeys playing near the Balekilla area of Rajgad Fort, rolled down and struck her.

The injured woman has been identified as Varsha Hundari (38), who had travelled from Mumbai with a group of 20 women for a trekking expedition. The incident occurred while she was descending the fort.

According to officials, several monkeys were running around near the Balekilla when one of them inadvertently dislodged a stone. The stone rolled downhill and hit Hundari on the head, leaving her injured.

A group of doctors who were also trekking on Rajgad immediately alerted Onkar Oak, coordinator of rescue operations. Fort guards Vishal PilavareBapu Sable, and Dadu Vegare, along with local villagers, quickly assisted in the rescue. Within half an hour, the team managed to bring Hundari down on a stretcher.

Her condition is reported to be stable, and she has been shifted to a larger medical facility for observation.
