Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO Holds Key Meeting With Bus Operators After Hinjawadi Accident
Pune, December 8, 2025: In the wake of the recent accident in Hinjawadi, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Regional Transport Office (RTO) held a coordination meeting today with representatives of bus operator associations. The meeting focused on strengthening safety measures in bus operations, protecting passengers, and reducing traffic congestion across the city.
During the discussion, bus operators were instructed to ensure that drivers strictly follow all traffic regulations and operate vehicles with maximum safety. Officials also urged all bus drivers to actively participate in the upcoming one-day training programme designed to enhance their awareness of safety protocols.
To improve passenger safety and accountability, RTO officials directed that every bus must display a dedicated helpline number where commuters can immediately register complaints. It was also revealed that some bus owners have already installed breath analyzer systems in their vehicles at their own expense. These devices prevent the bus from starting unless the driver passes an alcohol test. Other operators were encouraged to adopt the same system.
Associations reported that work is underway to develop a dedicated mobile app containing complete information about buses and drivers. The RTO further informed that special inspection drives are being conducted in Hinjawadi, Chakan, and nearby routes, with strict action being taken against rule violations and faulty vehicles.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO appealed to all stakeholders to prioritise passenger welfare, road discipline, and safety to ensure more reliable and responsible bus services in the region.
