Maharashtra Weather, Udyache Havaman, January 20, 2026: Weather conditions across Maharashtra remain unpredictable, with frequent fluctuations being recorded throughout the day. While early mornings are marked by chilly conditions, afternoons are witnessing a rise in temperature, followed by cooler evenings. Despite January being known for severe winter conditions, the expected intense cold is missing in many parts of the state. Instead, cloudy skies and signs of rainfall are being reported in select regions. In view of these changing conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert and urged citizens to remain cautious.

Across the country as well, weather patterns continue to change rapidly. While winter intensity has reduced in some states, light to heavy rainfall has been forecast in others. The IMD has issued rain alerts for several regions and advised people to take necessary precautions.

Maharashtra Weather Update: Uncertainty Continues

The weather in Maharashtra is currently at a turning point. Cold mornings, warmer afternoons, and a return of chill in the evenings have become a daily pattern. Compared to December, January has seen a noticeable reduction in winter severity. Although some regions still experience morning and night-time cold, daytime heat has increased. Meteorological experts have warned that such fluctuating weather conditions may lead to a rise in health issues such as cold, fever, and cough. Citizens are advised to take special care of their health.

Pune Weather Forecast

According to the weather department, Pune city is unlikely to witness major changes in weather conditions over the next two days. In recent days, a rise in both minimum and maximum temperatures had resulted in humid conditions across the city. However, a drop in temperature was recorded on Monday, bringing back a slight chill in the air. The IMD has indicated that weather conditions in Pune and surrounding areas are expected to remain stable for the next 48 hours.

Coldest Regions in Maharashtra

Niphad recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 7.9 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest location in Maharashtra. Gondia followed with a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius. Cold conditions are expected to persist in regions such as Niphad, Gondia, and Dhule, while a gradual reduction in cold intensity is likely in other parts of the state, according to IMD forecasts.

Weather Variations Across India

Not just Maharashtra, but several parts of the country are also witnessing frequent weather changes. While winter is easing in some states, other regions are likely to experience drizzle to heavy rainfall. The IMD has issued rainfall alerts in select areas and appealed to citizens to remain alert and prepared.

Rising Pollution Levels a Concern

In parts of North India, including Delhi, pollution levels are expected to rise in the coming days. Weather fluctuations may further aggravate respiratory ailments, health experts have cautioned. With a cycle of cold spells, rainfall, and sudden temperature spikes, the next few days are expected to remain challenging for citizens across several regions.
