Pune: PMC Under Fire After Larvae Found In Drinking Water In Prabhag 41 Mahadevwadi UndriĀ
Pune, January 31, 2026: Shiv Sena Pune city chief Pramod (Nana) Bhangire has raised serious concerns over the quality of drinking water supplied to parts of Ward No. 41 under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), alleging that larvae have been found in the water being supplied to residents of the Mahadevwadi area.
In a formal representation submitted to PMC Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram Saheb, Bhangire stated that residents of Ghule Nagar, Khalchi Aali and Madhli Aali have complained of a large number of larvae in municipal drinking water. He said the issue poses a direct threat to public health and has triggered strong resentment among local residents.
The letter also highlights another grave concern, claiming that drainage water from Survey No. 12 is reportedly entering several homes in the area. According to Shiv Sena, this situation significantly increases the risk of waterborne diseases, especially for children, senior citizens, women and those already suffering from illnesses.
Terming the matter as a clear case of administrative negligence in an essential public service, Bhangire demanded immediate intervention from the civic body. The demands include the urgent supply of clean, disinfected and safe drinking water through alternative arrangements, a thorough inspection and repair of water supply pipelines, and immediate corrective measures to stop sewage water from entering residential houses.
Shiv Sena has given the Pune Municipal Corporation a two-day deadline to implement all corrective measures. The party has warned that if safe and clean water supply is not restored within the stipulated time, it will launch an intense agitation against the civic administration.
āThe responsibility for any protest will rest entirely with the concerned authorities,ā the letter stated, adding that the party would not compromise on the health and safety of citizens.
Pramod (Nana) Bhangire expressed hope that the PMC would take immediate cognisance of the issue and initiate prompt action to safeguard public health in the affected areas.
