Pune, January 31, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a clarification on the process for appointing approved members following the 2025–26 civic elections, according to an official statement released by its Information and Public Relations Office.

The PMC general elections were held on January 15, 2026. Civic officials stated that, in line with Election Commission guidelines, the procedure for selecting approved members will commence only after the first special meeting of the newly elected body. This meeting is to be held after the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Only once this initial meeting concludes will the formal steps for appointing approved members be initiated, the civic body said.

To improve transparency and efficiency, the PMC has introduced an online mechanism for issuing the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC) required for approved members. The digital system is intended to minimise paperwork, ensure accountability, and expedite verification.

Individuals selected as approved members must submit their NOC applications through the PMC’s designated online portal. The application window will remain open from January 20 to February 15, 2026.

Civic officials have made it clear that applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants have been advised to carefully complete the form and upload all required documents to avoid rejection or processing delays.

The PMC said the streamlined system is expected to ensure a smoother post-election process and strengthen transparency in municipal administration.
