Satara, February 17, 2026: Maharashtra Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai has issued strict instructions for the immediate completion of the long-pending Karad–Chiplun National Highway project. He directed that encroachments near the Patan ST Stand area be removed without delay and construction work be started immediately to ensure the road is completed at the earliest.
The directives were issued during a virtual review meeting on various development works in Patan taluka, chaired by Desai. Senior officials including Satara District Collector Santosh Patil, Chief Executive Officer Yashni Nagrajan, Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi, Deputy Conservator of Forests Amol Satpute, Chief Engineer of the National Highways Regional Office, Mumbai, Santosh Shelar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Atul Sabnis, MSEDCL engineer Raskar, and District Planning Officer Yashwant Thorat were present.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the prolonged delay, Desai noted that despite repeated meetings and instructions, there has been no significant progress on the Karad–Chiplun National Highway. He instructed the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation to take immediate action to remove encroachments and make the land available for road work. He also directed the National Highways Authority of India to expedite the project and ensure its swift completion.
During the meeting, Desai also reviewed pending regional tourism development projects and instructed officials to complete incomplete works immediately. He further directed the administration to submit utilization certificates for funds allocated by the Tourism Department in 2022–23, stating that additional funds for remaining works would be released thereafter.
Additionally, the Guardian Minister reviewed the installation of approximately 150 kW solar panels in the Daulatnagar area. He instructed officials to submit detailed data on the savings achieved in electricity bills through the operational solar panel systems connected via net metering.
The administration has been asked to submit compliance reports on all directives at the earliest.
