Four Mild Tremors In 24 Hours Shake Nashik’s Harsul, Villagers Gripped By Fear
Low-intensity earthquakes recorded in Trimbakeshwar taluka; no major damage reported, officials on alert
A series of four mild earthquakes within 24 hours has triggered panic in Harsul and nearby villages in Trimbakeshwar taluka of Nashik district. Though the tremors were of low intensity and no major damage or injuries have been reported, the repeated shocks have left residents anxious and alert.
According to officials, the first tremor measuring 1.5 on the Richter scale was recorded at 7:49 pm on Sunday. A second tremor of magnitude 1.35 followed around midnight. Two more tremors, both measuring 1.2, were felt in the early hours of the morning and again in the afternoon. All events were recorded by the seismological centre.
While the intensity of the tremors was mild, their frequency has unsettled villagers. Many families reportedly stepped out of their homes as a precaution, with some choosing to remain outdoors at night due to fear of further shocks. Anxiety was particularly visible among children and elderly residents.
Locals have demanded that the administration remain vigilant and ensure proper disaster management preparedness. Residents have also sought regular monitoring of the situation to prevent panic from escalating.
District authorities have stated that disaster management teams are on alert and are closely tracking seismic activity in the region. Officials have urged citizens not to panic and to strictly follow safety advisories. They have also clarified that there is currently no report of structural damage.
Mild tremors have reportedly been felt in the area during similar periods over the past two years, particularly between December and February. With the recurrence of seismic activity, the local administration has initiated inspections in affected villages to assess ground conditions and interact directly with residents.
For now, the situation remains under control, but the repeated tremors have heightened concern in the rural belt of Nashik. Authorities continue to monitor developments and have assured timely updates if the situation changes.
