Pune: Youth Brutally Assaulted After Road Accident Near Spot 18 Mall In Rahatani Area
A dispute following a minor collision between two motorcycles escalated into a violent assault in Rahatani area of Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Pimpri Chinchwad, March 12, 2026: A shocking incident of violence following a minor road accident has come to light from Rahatani in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, where a young man was allegedly beaten and strangled after a brief argument on the road.
The incident occurred around 9.20 pm on March 9 on the BRT road in front of Spot 18 Mall. According to police information, Kunal Palwe (27) was riding his two-wheeler when it collided with another motorcycle.
Soon after the accident, Babu Patil and his associates, who had arrived at the spot in a car, intervened and began arguing with Palwe. During the confrontation, they allegedly blamed him for the accident, repeatedly telling him “it was your fault.”
What began as a verbal argument soon escalated into violence. Police said the accused started abusing and assaulting the victim, turning the roadside dispute into a serious attack.
During the assault, Babu Patil allegedly grabbed Palwe by the neck and tried to strangle him, while his associates removed their belts and repeatedly hit him on the head and face. The brutal attack in the middle of the road created panic among people in the area.
After the incident, the injured victim approached Kalewadi Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Babu Patil, Abhishek Madgule, Vicky Sutar and another associate.
Officials said efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accused, and further investigation into the case is in progress.
The incident has triggered concern among residents, as it highlights how minor road disputes are increasingly turning into violent confrontations in parts of the city.
