Maharashtra, April 27, 2026:
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Maharashtra over the next 12 hours, warning of soaring temperatures across several regions, particularly in Vidarbha. A total of seven districts have been placed under alert, with three districts under Orange alert and four under Yellow alert.
According to the forecast, weather conditions across the state are expected to remain largely dry, with a significant rise in temperatures.
In the Konkan region, including Mumbai, hot and humid conditions will prevail, with maximum temperatures ranging between 32°C and 35°C. Residents have been advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Western Maharashtra is expected to experience clear skies and dry weather on Monday, but temperatures are likely to rise sharply, reaching between 38°C and 42°C during the day. Night temperatures will hover between 22°C and 26°C, contributing to uncomfortable conditions.
Marathwada will remain dry with no immediate threat of unseasonal rainfall. However, temperatures are expected to climb between 39°C and 43°C, with warm nights ranging from 23°C to 27°C. No rainfall is predicted in the coming days, intensifying the heat.
Vidarbha is likely to face the most severe conditions, with a heatwave expected to impact the region. Orange alerts have been issued for Akola, Amravati, and Wardha, while Yellow alerts are in place for Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, and Buldhana. No rainfall is expected on Monday, although unseasonal weather activity may return from Tuesday.
In North Maharashtra, districts such as Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon will continue to experience intense heat, with temperatures ranging from 39°C to 43°C. Dry conditions will persist with no rainfall forecast.
Overall, Maharashtra is heading into a period of extreme heat. Authorities have advised residents to avoid stepping out between 12 pm and 4 pm and to stay hydrated to prevent heatstroke and related health issues.
