A video from Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh has triggered widespread discussion online after capturing a heated confrontation between a school principal and a mother over the purchase of study materials. The incident, which rapidly spread across social media platforms including X (formerly Twitter), has drawn strong public reactions along with conflicting explanations from those involved.

The widely shared clip, circulated by several users including @NewsAlgebraIND, shows principal Mamta Mishra in a visibly heated exchange with a parent who had raised objections to the school’s requirement of buying books and notebooks directly from the institution. During the argument, the principal is heard saying, “You shut up! Get lost. I am going to remove the children’s names from the register.” She is also seen repeatedly telling the mother to stop speaking and leave the discussion.

According to viral claims, the issue began when the parent, identified as Neelam Verma, was instructed to purchase notebooks worth around ₹1,200 from the school. As reported by India Today, she requested some time to arrange the payment, after which the situation escalated into a verbal altercation. The mother has alleged that she was insulted and threatened with her child being removed from the school register. She has also reportedly filed a formal complaint regarding the incident.

The video further shows the principal using extremely harsh language during the confrontation. She is allegedly heard saying “bloody fool,” “shut up,” and “gawar,” which intensified backlash from viewers and led to widespread criticism online over her conduct towards the parent.

Social media users reacted strongly to the clip, with many calling the behaviour unprofessional and unacceptable in an educational environment. The incident quickly became a topic of debate regarding school discipline, fee structures, and compulsory purchase of study materials.

Later, a second video surfaced in which the principal offered her clarification. She claimed that the viral clip shows only a small portion of a much longer interaction. According to her, the full episode lasted nearly three hours, while the circulated video captures only a brief segment that does not represent the complete context. She further alleged that the footage was selectively edited to create a misleading narrative against her.

Mamta Mishra also stated that the disagreement involved school fees, which she said were around ₹1,300, and claimed that some parents were pressuring her to reduce the admission charges. She further added that the incident occurred during a vaccination drive at the school, and she had asked the parent to discuss the matter later, but the request was not accepted, which contributed to the escalation.

Despite the clarification, public reaction continues to remain largely critical, with many users maintaining that the language and tone used in the video were inappropriate regardless of the circumstances.
