IMD issues yellow alert for 7 districts in Vidarbha with rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected. Other parts of Maharashtra likely to remain hot and dry.
Pune, May 4: The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for seven districts in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, warning of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

The alert covers Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal districts. Officials have said that some areas may receive light to moderate rainfall along with lightning and winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour.
Weather to Remain Hot in Rest of State
While Vidarbha may see changing weather conditions, the rest of the state is expected to remain mostly hot and dry.
In the Konkan region, including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, the weather is likely to stay hot and humid. Maximum temperatures may range between 33°C and 35°C, with high humidity levels making conditions uncomfortable.
Western Maharashtra to Stay Dry
Cities like Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur are expected to experience dry weather. Temperatures in Pune and Solapur may reach up to 39–40°C, with intense heat during the afternoon hours.
North Maharashtra and Marathwada Also Hot
Districts in North Maharashtra, including Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Ahilyanagar, are likely to remain hot and dry, with temperatures between 36°C and 39°C.
In the Marathwada region, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, Parbhani, Hingoli, Jalna, and Nanded, maximum temperatures may rise up to 41°C, with continued heatwave conditions.
Heatwave Continues in Parts of Vidarbha
Other parts of Vidarbha, including Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, and Washim, are expected to remain under heatwave conditions, although some areas may see partial cloud cover.
Advisory Issued
Authorities have urged residents and farmers in the affected districts to remain alert due to the possibility of lightning and strong winds. Precautions have been advised, especially in open areas during storm activity.
