IAS Officer Sheetal Teli-Ugale Takes Charge As Pune Divisional Commissioner
Pune, May 20, 2026: Senior IAS officer Sheetal Teli-Ugale officially assumed charge as the Divisional Commissioner of Pune on Tuesday following her recent transfer from the post of Sports Commissioner of Maharashtra.
An officer of the 2009 batch of the Indian Administrative Service, Teli-Ugale was welcomed by Additional Divisional Commissioner Kavita Dwivedi during the formal handover ceremony.
Teli-Ugale is a gold medalist from Savitribai Phule Pune University in the Arts stream. During her administrative career, she also participated in a specialised training programme in Australia on water security and circular economy, sponsored by the governments of India and Australia in 2023.

She began her administrative career as Assistant Collector in Nagpur and later served in several important positions, including Assistant Collector in Chandrapur, Chief Executive Officer of Jalgaon Zilla Parishad, Collector of Raigad, Additional Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation, Metropolitan Commissioner of the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority, Commissioner of Textiles, Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Handloom Development Corporation, Commissioner of Solapur Municipal Corporation, and Sports Commissioner of Maharashtra.
During her tenure as Raigad Collector, she was recognised for effectively leading rescue and relief operations after the collapse of the Savitri River bridge in Mahad. She also earned recognition during the Digital India Week initiative.
As Additional Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation, the civic body received several honours, including the “Skoch Order of Merit” and the “HUDCO Award for Best Practices.” Pune was also ranked among the best cities for urban governance in an assessment conducted by NGO Janaagraha.
While serving with the Maharashtra State Handloom Development Corporation, she led the “Fabric of Unity” campaign, under which more than 1,100 citizens from different professions collectively wove a 98-foot-long fabric on handlooms. The achievement was recorded in the Asia and India Book of Records.
During her tenure as Commissioner of Solapur Municipal Corporation, Solapur Smart City received the Regional Smart City Award for western India from the President of India in 2023. The corporation was also nationally recognised for exceeding targets under the PM SVANidhi scheme and secured second place in the Chief Minister Saksham City Competition 2023.
