Hungry on FC Road? These 7 Spots Will Feed You Well Even in Low Budget
From a 90-year-old Irani café to a chai corner below a chocolate shop, Pune’s most beloved street of food still runs on flavour, not price tags.

Pune: Fergusson College Road has always been Pune’s most democratic stretch of eating. Students, office-goers, retired professors and weekend visitors share the same pavement, the same queues and often the same table. The food here is not Instagram-chic. It is simply good, and it has been good for decades. Here are seven places on and just off FC Road where a full, satisfying meal or snack will not cross ₹200.

01. Hotel Vaishali 1218/1, Fergusson College Road, Opp. Fergusson College, Shivajinagar, Pune 411004 Open 7 AM to 11 PM
No introduction needed for most Punekars. Vaishali is where the city has been eating breakfast for over six decades. The filter coffee is strong, served in the traditional tumbler and davara style, and the SPDP is a house specialty that keeps people coming back plate after plate. A serve of Idli Vada Sambar or a Mysore Masala Dosa sits comfortably under ₹150. The outdoor seating under the trees remains one of the most pleasant places to start a morning in Pune.

02. Wadeshwar 1229/A, Fergusson College Road, Near Vaishali, Pune 411004
Standing next door to Vaishali and competing for the same breakfast crowd, Wadeshwar holds its own with soft, pillowy idlis served with thick freshly made sambar. The Set Dosa and Appe are regulars on most tables. Thalipeeth, a Maharashtrian multigrain flatbread, is a less common offering that loyalists swear by. Quick service and consistent quality make it a reliable first stop. Most items are under ₹130.

03. Hotel Rupali 1227, Fergusson College Road, Deccan Gymkhana, Pune 411004
Rupali sits just a few steps from Vaishali and is often called its quieter sibling. The South Indian breakfast menu covers dosas, uttapam and idlis, and the standard matches its famous neighbour. The atmosphere is slightly more relaxed and the wait shorter. Generations of Pune families have been eating here and regulars say the taste has not changed in all those years. A full South Indian breakfast with coffee fits comfortably within ₹160.

04. Café Good Luck Goodluck Chowk, Deccan Gymkhana, FC Road, Pune 411004 Open 7 AM to 11:30 PM · Established 1935
One of Pune’s oldest Irani cafés, Good Luck has been serving bun maska and Irani chai since 1935. The combination is simple, a butter-soaked bread roll with a cup of milky, slightly sweet tea brewed the Irani way and it has not needed to change in ninety years. The garden seating makes it one of the few places in Pune where sitting and doing nothing feels entirely justified. Bun maska and chai together come in well under ₹80.

05. Hotel Kirti Survey No 917/93, Opp. Vaishali Hotel, Near British Library, Off FC Road, Pune 411004
Kirti is where FC Road regulars go specifically for pav bhaji. The bhaji is cooked on a large iron tawa with generous butter and arrives still sizzling at the table. It is honest, no-frills pav bhaji the way the dish was meant to be — spicy, buttery and filling. The location just opposite Vaishali makes it easy to combine a coffee at one and a plate of pav bhaji at the other. A full plate stays under ₹120.

06. Café Durga Fergusson College Road, Near Deccan Gymkhana, Pune 411004
Café Durga runs almost entirely on the loyalty of students from nearby colleges. The thick cold coffee is what most people come for — not blended, not fancy, just cold coffee the way it was made before every café started calling it a frappe. Bhurji Pav, a scrambled egg preparation with green chillies and onion, is the go-to snack alongside it. The vibe is loud, the seating is no-nonsense and a full order of cold coffee and bhurji pav stays well within ₹150.

07. Kannu Ki Chai Narhari Building, Below The Chocolate Room, Fergusson College Road, Pune 411041
Tucked below a well-known dessert spot, Kannu Ki Chai has quietly built a following among students looking for a place to sit, talk and eat without spending much. The chai is the anchor, but the menu covers fries, garlic bread, sandwiches, rolls, small pizzas and quick bites. Summer special drinks have recently been added and have already found regulars. It is the kind of spot that does not look like much from the outside but earns its crowd one honest visit at a time. Most orders come under ₹180.
