The 800-meter-deep stretch of road joining Ivy Estate to Pune Nagar road has been in a shoddy state for more than 8 years now. On January 9th, 2023,  a woman biker fell off from her bike and passed away.

Santosh Krishna, a resident of Ivy Estate society in Wagholi and also Director, Wagholi Housing Society Association (WHSA) said that the road stretch is 800 meters which is incomplete and has not been resurfaced at all. “Ivy Estate road has over 15 societies and more than 20,000 residents living here, always at great risk. Many fatal accidents have taken place on the road. Yesterday we met the officials at the Lonikand police station and asked for deploying police personnel to control and fine the motorists driving from the wrong side. We have also written to the PMC and PMRDA about resolving our issue and providing relief to 20000 residents,” he said.

Nitin Jain from Wagholi Housing Societies Association said that they have written multiple times to the civic authorities but with no effect  “We now plan to file a PIL . How long do we fight for our basic needs even after paying our taxes regularly?,” he asked.

Gajanan Pawar, police inspector, Lonikand police station said that the residents’ demands are valid and have been forwarded to the traffic department for further action.

Bhushan Ranade, another resident, said that they are demanding a safe and well made access road which the developers had assured earlier.
