In view of the increasing cases of Covid19, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has been imposing strict fines on people not wearing masks and spitting in public places.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation areas has seen spike in cases of Covid19 in the last one month. And since it spreads due to droplets from mouth, nose, it has become mandatory to wear masks while being at public places.

Till Monday, July 5, 2020, the civic body fined 1380 people for not wearing mask and 2200 people for spitting at public places.
Dr Anil Roy, medical health officer, chief, health department, PCMC said, “It has become mandatory for everyone to wear mask. Also, people should not spit on the roads. At most of the places on the last week, we have asked people to clean it. The drive shall become aggressive in the coming days. People should maintain discipline. Why spoil our city by spitting everywhere ? Also, when the government authorities are clearly asking to wear mask to keep virus away, people are still not wearing mask and not understanding it’s importance too. ”
World Health Organisation also says that by wearing mask the risk of catching the Covid19 infection is low. People should take up the task of wearing masks seriously.
The government of Maharashtra imposes fine of Rs 500 for not wearing masks.
