Pune: Residents Demand Urgent Action As Traffic Congestion Hits Sus Road: Safety Of Students At Risk

Pune: The menace of illegal parking caused hundreds of vehicles to get stuck in a traffic jam for nearly half an hour on the 2 to 3 km stretch on Pashan Sus road on Monday morning.
As per information from a local resident, Vikas Tamakuwala, he stated, “The motorists & commuters on Pashan – Sus road suffered heavily as they the waiting time for vehicles beyond 45 minutes and one hour. He further stated, “Actually starting this monsoon, traffic problem started in the entire Sus gaon. Mainly because bad road conditions and encroachments. This road needs expansion but it looks like Pune Municipal Corporation has no interest in it. Sometimes Traffic police handles situation, specially when there is a big event in the nearby college. Also two lanes connecting Sus gaon road with Bitwise Baner lane makes the situation worst. They are very narrow from where water tankers, four wheelers keep travelling in both the ways. This road needs to restricted only for two wheelers.”
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sachin Kadam, Assistant Police Inspector, Bavdhan Traffic Division, said “The traffic was halted for almost 30 minutes for 2 to 3 km on Pashan – Sus road on the morning of 24th July due to several reasons like wrong parking, heavy vehicles halting on the road,etc. Now, we have removed the obstacles and the traffic flow has resumed smoothly again. We have also appointed traffic wardens on the Pashan – Sus road & will ensure that the traffic flow remains smooth every day.”
