Naresh Lalwani, the General Manager (GM) of Central Railway, conducted an inspection on Saturday to assess the progress of the Pune yard remodelling work. The project aims to bolster the operations of long-distance trains with more than 24 coaches at the Pune railway station, and it was announced back in 2018.

Accompanied by Indu Dubey, Pune Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Brijesh Kumar Singh, Chief Project Manager Prakash Upadhyay, and senior officers from the Pune division, Lalwani thoroughly examined the yard remodelling work on both sides of the station. The inspection encompassed areas near the Wadia Bridge and the Alankar Bridge, as well as an evaluation of the electric trip shed and the planned third and fourth lines between Pune and Lonavla.

During the inspection, Lalwani held individual meetings with all branch officers to discuss their initiatives for enhancing railway operations and addressing any challenges they encountered.

The yard remodelling plan is a strategic move by the railways to accommodate and develop the functioning of long-distance trains with more than 24 coaches at Pune station. By upgrading the yard infrastructure and optimizing the track layout, the project aims to streamline operations, reduce delays, and improve overall efficiency, benefitting both passengers and railway services in the region.
