Pune Police Seizes Drugs Worth Rs 1100 Crores from Kurkumbh Industrial Area
In a significant blow to the drug trade, Pune Police has made substantial seizures, marking a significant milestone in their fight against the drug mafia. On Monday, February 19th, a sizable amount of Mephedrone (MD) drugs valued at approximately Rs 100 crore were confiscated.
The momentum continued the following morning, as Pune Police conducted another operation, this time in the Kurkumbh Industrial Area. A staggering haul of over 600 kilograms of MD drugs, with an estimated street value of Rs 1100 crores, was intercepted.
Providing insights into the operation, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, through the official Twitter handle, hailed the operation as an “Unprecedented Action.” He emphasized the department’s commitment to ensuring a drug-free Pune, asserting that every effort would be made to eliminate the manufacture, distribution, and use of illicit drugs in the city.
Commissioner Kumar disclosed that the crackdown targeted the Earth Fame Laboratories Company, operating in the Kurkumbh Industrial Area under the management of Anil Sable. Information leading to this action was gleaned from the arrests made the previous day, prompting swift action by the crime branch team.
Upon raiding the company’s premises, law enforcement discovered a substantial cache of drugs amounting to 600 kilograms. These narcotics were destined for distribution across the country, but the intervention prevented their circulation. The police are engaged in widespread operations across the state to dismantle drug networks, with support from central investigative agencies.
Authorities suspect the involvement of an international syndicate, indicating potential links beyond national borders. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the complexities of the operation and identify any foreign connections.
The seizure underscores Pune Police’s proactive stance against narcotics trafficking, signaling a resolute effort to safeguard communities from the scourge of drug abuse.
