Pune : Aba Bagul causes controversy over Lok Sabha election candidate selection process

The Lok Sabha elections are just a few days away. The seat allotment gap still persists. Even in Pune, the Congress candidate is yet to be decided. MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, Congress Maharashtra Vice President Mohan Joshi, City President Arvind Shinde are interested in contesting the Lok Sabha elections. But now these aspirants have been shaken by a letter from a senior Congress leader.
Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Mayor Aba Bagul has written a letter to Congress State President Nana Patole. In this letter, he directly demanded to take the opinion of the people while deciding the candidate for the Lok Sabha.
When the Lok Sabha elections are around the corner, instead of ending the rift between the Pune Congress candidate, this letter bomb has increased the rift. Aba Bagul has written a letter to Congress state president Nana Patole and requested him to decide the candidate for Pune Lok Sabha only after taking the opinion of Pune people from the public meeting.
Aba Bagul’s letter has served to add fuel to the fire of internal controversy that has been raging in the Congress for some time now. Due to this, there is a possibility of a flare-up over the candidacy in Pune Congress in the future.
A list of 20 people including former MLAs, office bearers, former corporators and Congress workers has been sent to the state Congress. Aba Bagul, who has been active in the Congress for the past 40 years, was a bit distant in the whole process while sending the list of these people. Aba Bagul was absent from most of the Congress meetings.
Aba Bagul emphasized in a letter to Congress state president Nana Patole the value of getting public input through open forums. In light of the impending Lok Sabha elections, Bagul emphasized that the code of conduct remains unimplemented. Despite the BJP’s present dominance, he emphasized the Congress party’s importance in the Pune Lok Sabha seat. Bagul emphasized the need to comprehend Pune residents’ preferences while expressing confidence in the Congress’s ability to retake the constituency.
He anticipated thousands of Pune residents would attend the public meetings he planned to hold to get opinions. Bagul said that Pune make intelligent voters. Their votes should be used to determine the Pune Lok Sabha candidate. He underlined that choosing a candidate for the Lok Sabha should only be decided upon after determining Pune residents’ preferences. Based on his service history, Bagul apparently hopes to receive the party ticket in the meantime.
