Four and a half lakh MSMEs registered in Pune City
Pune City, known as Information Technology hub and epicenter of automobile industries, will soon be identified as the Micro, Small and Medium (MSME) district. According to the recent statistics released by the Department of Industries, Pune boasts a staggering count of over four and a half lakh registered MSMEs, solidifying its status as a thriving entrepreneurial hub.
Additionally, it is revealed that one Lakh MSMEs are actively engaged in manufacturing activities, while the remaining three and a half lakh operate within the service sector.
These enterprises are spread across Pune City, Pimpri-Chinchwad and other talukas within the district, reflecting the diverse economic landscape of the region.
Moreover, SG Rajput, the Pune Divisional Additional Director of the State Industries Department, lauded the district’s remarkable progress in the MSME sector, attributing its success to the concerted efforts of entrepreneurs and policymakers.
In the manufacturing industry, Pune’s repertoire has a wide variety of products including auto spare parts, hardware, pharmaceuticals and steel catering to both domestic and international markets.
Notably, the district has witnessed a surge in production catering to the defence sector, underscoring its adaptability and resilience in meeting evolving market demands.
Complementing the manufacturing powers, Pune houses a vibrant ecosystem of over three and a half lakh small and large industries, providing an extensive range of services from logistics, warehousing, transport and export facilitation.
This increasing infrastructure has not only bolstered local employment opportunities but has also positioned Pune as a key player in the national export landscape.
