Mumbai: A landslide has disrupted train services on the Konkan Railway route, specifically between the Diwankhavati and Vinhere stations in the Ratnagiri region. The incident occurred at 16:48 hours on July 14, 2024, due to heavy rains affecting the area.

A Konkan Railway official confirmed that soil slippage at Km 79/4-6 resulted in the immediate halting of several trains. “No train was passing through the section at the time of the landslide,” the official reported, ensuring no immediate danger to passengers.

The incident has caused significant inconvenience, with five to six long-distance trains halted at various stations along the Konkan route.

To address the disruption, teams have been swiftly deployed to clear the tracks. Restoration efforts are currently underway, with machinery including a JCB already on-site and a Poclain machine en route.

The Konkan Railway has assured that services are expected to resume within two to three hours once the debris is cleared.

This landslide follows an earlier disruption on the Konkan Railway route this week. Earlier, services were affected due to waterlogging in the Pernem tunnel in the Madure-Pernem section of Goa amidst ongoing heavy rains.

As a consequence of the current landslide, several train services have been fully canceled for July 15, 2024, as outlined in Bulletin No. 04:

  1. Train No. 10103 Mumbai CSMT – Madgaon Jn. “Mandovi” Express.
  2. Train No. 50108 Madgaon Jn. – Sawantwadi Road Passenger.
  3. Train No. 10106 Sawantwadi Road – Diva Express.

Passengers are requested to note the cancellations. Efforts are ongoing to restore normal services. The Konkan Railway has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused. The teams are working diligently to resume operations as swiftly as possible.
