Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway leads to traffic congestion

PUNE: A severe vehicular accident transpired on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in close proximity to Lonavla, resulting in significant disruptions and a massive traffic congestion.

As per the information provided, the incident was caused by a tire blowout on a speeding container truck, which collided with the divider and entered the opposite lane.

The accident occurred near Lonavala, a popular tourist spot, as confirmed by authorities. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported. As per the information received, the truck driver sustained minor injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, as per the information received. The police promptly arrived at the scene, and measures are being taken to clear the damaged container and other vehicles to restore normal traffic flow.

According to current reports, there is an improvement in the traffic situation. As the investigation progresses, authorities are urging drivers to ensure their vehicles are driven properly following the speed limit.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Lata Phad, Highway State Police, added, ”After the tyre blowout, traffic congestion was observed on two lanes. Later, immediately, vehicles were removed, and traffic was regulated.”
