Pune: The Maharashtra State Government has approved a fund of Rs 200 crores for road repair, widening, construction etc work of Katraj – Kondhwa Road.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sahebrao Dandge, Superintendent Engineer, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Road Department said, “Earlier, the PMC had requested a fund of Rs 280 crore from the state government. However, no result or approval of the fund request was coming. Hence, we again sent a new request to the state government for allocating Rs 200 crore fund & Rs 80 crore would be spent by the PMC. Hence, the state government agreed and has approved allotting Rs 200 crore for the repair and widening work of Katraj – Kondhwa Road.”

As per further information from Dandge, this much awaited project is stalled due to non-acquisition of land for Katraj-Kondhwa road. Earlier, 84 meters of the road was to be constructed. However, due to the increasing cost of land acquisition, a decision has been taken by the municipal administration to develop a 50-meter road initially after which more probable solutions would be discussed regarding acquiring land for further widening the developed road.
