Mumbai, May 24, 2025 – Actor Mukul Dev, known for his work across Hindi, Punjabi, and South Indian cinema, as well as television, has passed away at the age of 54. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

The news of his demise has sent shockwaves through the film and television industry. Actor Vindu Dara Singh confirmed the news and paid tribute on social media. “Rest in peace my brother #MukulDev! The time spent with you will always be cherished. Son of Sardaar 2 will be your swansong, bringing joy and laughter to all,” Vindu wrote in a heartfelt post.

Speaking to India Today, Vindu revealed that Mukul had become increasingly reclusive after the death of his parents. “He rarely stepped out or met people. His health declined recently and he was hospitalized. My condolences to his brother and everyone who knew and loved him. He was an amazing person. We will all miss him,” he said.

Actor Deepshika Nagpal also expressed shock, saying she couldn’t believe that Mukul was no more.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee shared a moving tribute on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “It’s impossible to put into words what I’m feeling. Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young. Miss you meri jaan… until we meet again. Om Shanti.”

About Mukul Dev

Born on September 17, 1970, in New Delhi, Mukul Dev began his acting career in 1996 with the television series Mumkin and made his film debut the same year in Dastak alongside Sushmita Sen. Over the years, he featured in several notable films including Yamla Pagla DeewanaSon of SardaarR… Rajkumar, and Jai Ho.

Dev had worked across various regional industries including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam films. A graduate of St. Columba’s School in Delhi, he also held a certificate in aeronautics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Aviation in Raebareli.

In a 2021 interview, Mukul reflected on his 25-year-long journey in the entertainment industry, calling it fulfilling. “Even if I want to, I cannot complain. I think I’ve done pretty alright for myself,” he said.

He added that he had no regrets and was grateful for the niche he had created. “Somehow over the years, I managed to carve out a space for myself where people thought of me for very specific roles. That’s a space I’ve come to respect.”

Mukul Dev’s final appearance will be in Son of Sardaar 2, a project he had completed before this unfortunate incident. His legacy as a versatile and reliable performer will be remembered by audiences and colleagues alike.
