Ahmedabad Doctor Slaps Patient’s Father, Refuses Treatment for Child, Sparks Social Media Outrage
Chaos erupted at Sola Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on October 26 when a female doctor slapped a patient’s father and refused to treat his daughter. The confrontation, captured on video, quickly went viral, igniting public anger and demands for strict disciplinary action.
Ashik Haribhai Chavda had brought his daughter to the hospital for medical attention. Tensions rose when Chavda began recording the interaction on his phone. The doctor, visibly irritated, demanded that he stop filming. When Chavda questioned her, she suddenly slapped him. A security guard was nearby but did not intervene immediately.
After the incident, the doctor refused to attend to Chavda’s daughter, accusing him of misbehavior. In the video, she can be heard saying, “I will not listen to anyone because you are misbehaving with me.”
The clip spread rapidly on social media, prompting widespread condemnation. Many users called for her suspension or arrest, and hashtags demanding her removal began trending.
While some argued the video might not show the full context, the majority criticized her aggressive behavior, emphasizing that violence against patients or their families is never acceptable.
Numerous people also commented that she is unfit to be a doctor and insisted that strict action should be taken to hold her accountable. Others expressed concern about growing mistrust and rising aggression between healthcare professionals and the public.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement, though an internal inquiry and disciplinary action are expected. The incident has sparked a broader conversation about professionalism in healthcare and the responsibilities of medical staff when handling confrontations.
