Following the RG Kar Medical College incident, AIIMS Nagpur is reinforcing the safety and security measures of its healthcare professionals and staff. This also comes in response to the recent strike held by resident doctors.

Executive Director Dr. PP Joshi reviewed existing protocols, identified vulnerabilities, and inspected key areas, including emergency departments and patient wards, to enhance security and ensure a safer environment for all residents, students, and staff.

“AIIMS Nagpur is dedicated to providing a safe, secure, and supportive environment for everyone on campus. We will continue to review and enhance our security protocols to ensure the highest standards of safety,” the administration said.

List of key security enhancements to ensure the safety of its campus:

  • 4. Advanced Surveillance System: The campus is under constant surveillance with 528 CCTV cameras covering both indoor and outdoor areas, including key sections like the IPD, OPD, radiotherapy, blood bank, and mortuary.
  • 5. Code Violet Implementation: AIIMS Nagpur has formulated to launch Code Violet, a protocol to manage and control violent situations, with trained security personnel ready to act swiftly.
