Ajit Pawar Directs Transfer of Unused Land Around Mulshi Dam for Public Infrastructure and Tourism Development
Pune district guardian minister Ajit Pawar has directed the divisional commissioner and district commissioner to acquire unused land around Mulshi dam. The aim is to establish basic infrastructure for local villagers.
Tata Power, which owns most of the land in the area, has been asked to transfer unused property for public facilities. These facilities include a crematorium and water tanks. “The firm has yet to hand over the land to the state government,” said Pawar during a meeting with Pune district officials and Tata Power representatives at Mantralaya on Monday.
Pawar emphasized the need to enhance tourism facilities at Mulshi to attract more visitors. The area has significant potential for tourism, given its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities.
Additionally, the state government has approved an increase in the height of the Mulshi dam by one meter. The extra water collected will be utilized for drinking and irrigation purposes. Currently, around 80 percent of the land at Mulshi dam is owned by Tata Power, while the rest belongs to private parties.
Pawar’s initiatives aim to improve the living standards of local villagers while also promoting tourism and better water management in the region.
The focus on infrastructure development and tourism is expected to benefit both the community and the economy in the long run.
