Pune: The Akhil Bharatiya Grahak panchayat has started a data collection survey with all the residential societies of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad facing frequent water shortages, buying water tankers frequently at an increased price and in order to highlight the severe issue of water shortage.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Vilas Lele, Head, Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat said, “The problems of tanker mafia, water cuts, no adequate water supply and more are increasing in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad cities. The costs of water tankers are skyrocketing. On one hand, citizens pay huge amounts of taxes to municipal corporations while they also pay for water tankers. This needs to end soon. Hence, we have started this data collection survey.”

“Currently, we have complaints from 100 residential societies. The survey form will be shared from tomorrow. After a person from a society submits the data, our volunteers will visit that society and will carry out a thorough inspection related to water shortages. Once the information of the societies will be collated by our volunteers, an area-wise listing of the societies will happen after which the entire data will be shared with the respective municipal corporations,” he further added.

The data can be filled in this form https://forms.gle/QC4B2fLB7LeEnjaBA

As per information by Vijay Sagar, Central Executive Member, Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat, said that the aim is to help start adequate water supply from the municipal corporations for at least 1000 residential societies.

Arun Nair from Dhanori Lohegaon area said, “We are collecting data of the societies which are suffering from water woes. We want societies to come forward and fill up the data so that we can present these to the relevant authorities and seek redressal on water issues.”
