Pune: In order to ease everyday traffic problems at Pune University Chowk, the entire traffic from Aundh, going towards Shivaji Nagar, will be diverted through the Pune University premises instead of coming to Pune University Chowk.

The diversion is being done due to the road widening work going on at Pune University Chowk to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Office Gate.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rajkumar Shere, Senior Police Inspector (Planning), Pune Traffic Police said, “The Pune University premises route is open as an alternate route for traffic. The road widening work going on at the 1-kilometre stretch between Pune University Chowk to RBI Office gate will be completed within 15 days i.e. by the end of this month as utility shifting, asphalting, etc will be done to make the widened road open for use.”

As per further information, opposite the Raj Bhavan is the gate of the University. From there, the motorists will go from Swami Vivekananda School to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Office near the main entrance. From there, the motorists will be able to go towards Shivaji Nagar.

This road will be made 6 meters wide. Although this will increase the travel distance, it will help reduce the congestion at Pune University Chowk.
