Three years after the introduction of Internet of Things(IoT)-enabled smart trolleys at Hyderabad airport, Anand Mahindra expressed his admiration for the innovative feature. Airports in various Indian cities are undergoing significant transformations to enhance the overall traveller experience.

In 2020, Hyderabad became the pioneer in India by introducing Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled smart trolleys at its airport. These trolleys allowed travellers to track and ensure the real-time availability of baggage carts.

The airport, in a statement, highlighted that trolley management and replenishment would be optimized based on the specific needs across different areas of the airport. This approach aimed to boost efficiency, improve passenger experience, and facilitate smooth operations.

Impressed by the smart trolleys, Anand Mahindra questioned whether an Indian airport was among the first globally to implement such a feature. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “That is pretty cool. I’ve never encountered such trolleys in overseas airports. But I may be wrong. Are we truly amongst the very first to introduce these?” Accompanying the post was a video demonstrating how to use the smart trolleys.

The Hyderabad airport promptly responded, confirming that they were indeed the first to introduce smart trolleys at airports. In their reply, they expressed excitement about pioneering these cutting-edge trolleys, adding innovation to the travel experience and setting a global trend.

Users on X applauded the technological advancements at the airport, with one predicting that India would soon surpass the USA in technology. Another user suggested that airports in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore should adopt similar cost-effective and labor-saving smart technologies.
