‘Baghtoy Rickshaw wala’, a Pune based auto-rickshaw drivers organization, has displayed ” an act of Samaritan” by conducting a mockdrill to display awareness on the Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) practise. The organization, which has been quite vocal on regular issues faced by auto-rickshaw drivers, led by Keshav Kshirsagar, is aiming to reform the impression of the city based auto-rickshaw drivers.
Close to 100 auto-rickshaw drivers participated in this mockdrill, held by the organization in association with ‘Hrudaya Medical Foundation’. According to the information given by Keshav Kshirsagar, head of the foundation, the mockdrill was held to promote the initiative of ‘Jeevan Raksha’ & mainly to spread awareness on the Supreme Court law ‘Good Samaritan’.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Kshirsagar said, “With such practises and awareness, we can save lives of close to 2 lakh people every year. If one observes, the road is majorly filled by auto-rickshaw drivers, who do not only reach first to help the accident survivors, but also take responsibility of reaching the patient within the emergency time frame. So, we thought of educating our drivers about such health practises that can help them save one’s life. The life saving technique is being taught to all the rickshaw drivers in our organization in batches. We are also providing a health kit and a certificate of training completion to all those who participate and complete it successfully.”
