Pune : On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that the first phase of the international airport in Ayodhya will be completed by December 15, more than a month before the inauguration of the Ram Temple. The airport, named Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, will have the capacity to accommodate Boeing 737, Airbus 319, and Airbus 320 aircraft.

As per the information provided, the chief minister, along with Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State for Civil Aviation, VK Singh, visited the airport site on Saturday. The chief minister expressed that Ayodhya is becoming a symbol of the ‘New India’ envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.

After conducting review meetings with important officials, Yogi Adityanath stated that Ayodhya had a small airstrip covering 178 acres initially, but it is currently being developed into a significant international airport.

As per the information received, state government has allocated 821 acres of land for the project. The work is currently being carried out with utmost urgency under the guidance of the Airport Authority of India. This initiative is a testament to his government’s dedication towards the progress of Ayodhya and the provision of vital infrastructure for its inhabitants.

Scindia stated that endeavours have been undertaken to embody the cultural essence of Ayodhya within the airport. In the initial stage, a terminal spanning 65,000 square feet is being constructed, equipped to accommodate 2-3 flights per hour. Simultaneously, progress is being made on a 2,200-meter runway to facilitate the landing of aircraft such as the Boeing 737, Airbus 319, and Airbus 320.

In the second phase, the runway will be extended to 3,700 meters, as announced by the minister. This will enable wide-bodied planes such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Boeing 777 to land directly in Ayodhya. Additionally, the terminal area will cover 5 lakh square feet.
