On 6th March, a meeting between Bavdhan Citizens’ Forum (BCF) members & Pimpri Chinchwad Police took place. As per further information from BCF, the members had written about their complaints to the Police which was submitted in February. Various issues were raised like open drinking, prostitution along service roads, drug abuse on the rise, incidents of chain snatching and overall unsafe environment post evening, traffic chaos due to haphazard parking, wrong driving practice and encroachments etc.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Police assured that:

·         Major focus in coming months will be on open drinking, prostitution along service roads, drug abuse on the rise, incidences of chain snatching and overall unsafe environment post evening, to reassure citizens of Bavdhan.

·         Increased patrolling to keep watch on unwanted activities. Record register to be kept at some shops etc.

·         Addition of 3-4 personnel immediately at the Bavdhan Police Chowki for better functioning.

·         Proposal for Bavdhan Police station (currently, it is Chowki) has been submitted to the Home Ministry. This will get residents a lot more police facilities and added manpower.

·         Personal appeal to shops /showrooms and societies to have at least one road facing CCTV camera to capture untoward incidents as they help speed up the process of solving an issue and also serves as a deterrent. Plus ensuring the existing CCTV cameras at chowks, etc are functioning.

·         Trying to get a Damini Pathak operational at Bavdhan Police Chowki to ensure women safety

Team BCF says that the DCP Bapu Bangar and his team showed keen interest in regular interaction with citizens, especially senior citizens groups for confidence building as well as better functioning.

The BCF will go ahead with the 8th March meeting at 6 pm at LMD Chowk, keeping it as a further interaction with the Bavdhan Police Chowki team to understand how, as citizens, they can work together to make Bavdhan Safe.

They also propose to have a police-public meet at regular intervals in different pockets of Bavdhan to understand and work together as a community.
