Says students from CBSE, ICSE boards should not be ignored

Shatrughan Kate, on August 6th, gave a written statement to the then municipal commissioner Rajesh Patil stressing on the fact that students from CBSE, ICSE boards should not be ignored while implementing welfare schemes of Pimpri Chichwad municipal corporation.

Every year, the prize money is given away to students who pass the 10th and 12th exams with 80% to 90%.
A prize of Rs.10,000/- is given to students securing 80% marks, Rs.15,000/- to students securing more than 90% marks in Class 10 and more than 90% in Class 12.

The meritorious students were awarded Rs. 15,000/- based on category. In the past, while giving these prizes through the municipality, no terms and conditions were applicable.
In the year 2021-22, lot of changes have been made in the implementation of the scheme.

A written statement by Shatrughan states that in the rules of this year’s prize scheme, only students from schools under the Maharashtra State Board and schools under the Right to Education Act will benefit from this scheme, but this, he feels, is a great injustice to the meritorious students who pass from CBSE, ICSE and other boards.

Getting the benefit of welfare schemes through the Social Development Department under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is the right of every student in the city and the municipal administration cannot take it away, Kate said in his letter.
