Bengaluru: 10-year-old girl electrocuted at posh apartment swimming pool

Bengaluru: A 10-year-old girl is suspected to have died due to electrocution at a posh apartment in Varthur in the city on Thursday evening. The residents staged a protest and blamed the property maintenance agency for the incident. A case has been registered at Varthur Police Station.The deceased was identified as a 10-year-old girl Manya. The incident took place at around 7:30 pm in Prestige Lakeside Habitat Apartment in Varthur. The girl was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.

On Thursday evening, Manya had gone near the swimming pool in the apartment where she is said to have suffered an electric shock after stepping on an exposed live wire. After suffering an electric shock she is said to have fallen into the swimming pool. Residents rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

The residents alleged that despite repeated complaints of electric shocks near the swimming pool, the maintenance agency failed to rectify it leading to the tragedy.The residents staged a protest and demanded the police to take action against the maintenance manager and others responsible for the death of the girl.

The girl’s parents have filed a police complaint at Varthur Police Station and the cops have initiated a probe.“Earlier, there was a complaint of electric shock but the property management service did not take action. The property management agency is responsible for this tragedy, action should be taken against them,” a resident said.The property manager claimed that a case was registered and the truth would come out in the police investigation.
