Private taxi and bus companies in Bengaluru will go on strike on Monday (11th September) and most private transportation services in the city are likely to be closed. Monday is a busy day for IT professionals, and others, so the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is planning to send extra buses to handle the extra traffic expected during the strike.

The Strike is organised by Karnataka State Private Vehicles Owners Association.

As per information, since the implementation of the free bus service for women in the state of Karnataka, the private operators in the transport sector have been protesting that they are suffering a lot due to the implementation of the scheme. Earlier, they met the minister of transport and demanded that private buses be included in the scheme and that they be compensated for their losses.

On July 24, the transport unions held a meeting with the minister of state for transport in Karnataka Ramalinga Reddy. The meeting took place three days before the unions had initially planned to protest on July 27. The minister assured the unions that 28 of the 30 demands will be met by August end.

The minister said that he would bring the matter to the chief minister’s notice and talk about the issues. However, the associations did not receive any response from the government. On September 11, the transport unions decided to strike for one day.

Hence, the following services will operate in Bangalore on 11th September:
