A college student in Bengaluru, Anurag Kumar Singh, faced a surprising fare surge on Ola, where the initially displayed fare of Rs 730 for a ride from the airport to Mathikere surged to Rs 5,194 upon reaching the destination.
Singh, who had booked an Ola ‘mini taxi,’ boarded the first car at the airport’s taxi bay.
Upon reaching his destination, Singh discovered the exorbitant fare, and the driver showed him a screen indicating Rs 5,194. Perplexed by the sudden surge, Singh checked his phone and realized that the trip had been canceled.
Aware of the aggregator service’s policy, he understood that if the fare at the end exceeds the initially stated fare, the issue can be reported to customer support for possible refund resolution.
